Our materials
Source texts. Every story on this site is translated from a work of classical Chinese literature that is in the public domain worldwide — the authors have been dead for centuries. The original Chinese texts belong to no one and to everyone.
Our work. The English translations, cultural notes, encyclopedia entries, essays and site design on this site are original work and are © Ancient China Wonder. If you want to quote or reuse them, the following applies: brief quotations with attribution and a link are always fine; for anything more substantial, ask — the answer is usually yes.
Illustrations. Illustrations are AI-generated for this site in a unified ink-wash style and are labelled as such. No third-party artwork, photography or copyrighted image is used anywhere on the site.
If you believe something here infringes your rights
We take intellectual-property complaints seriously and respond within 24–48 hours. Send a notice containing the following to the address on the contact page:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- The exact URL on this site of the material in question;
- Your name and a means of contacting you;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised, and that the information in your notice is accurate;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
On receipt of a valid notice we will remove or disable access to the identified material while the claim is assessed, and will notify you of the outcome. Given that all source texts are public-domain and all translations and artwork are original to this site, valid claims are expected to be rare — but the door is open.
